Important: Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") carefully before using the MealMatics mobile application ("App"). By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the App.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using MealMatics, you agree to:
- Comply with these Terms and Conditions
- Comply with our Privacy Policy (available at Privacy Policy)
- Comply with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws
- Be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA)
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and MealMatics ("we," "us," or "our").
2. Description of Service
MealMatics is an AI-powered recipe generation and meal planning mobile application that provides:
- AI Recipe Generation: Personalized recipes generated using OpenAI's GPT models based on your dietary preferences, restrictions, and cuisine choices
- Recipe Management: Save, organize, and share your favorite recipes
- Nutritional Information: AI-estimated nutritional data for generated recipes
- Dietary Profiles: Customized meal planning based on dietary goals (weight loss, maintenance, muscle gain, etc.)
- Image Generation: AI-generated food images for recipes
- Premium Features: Additional features available through subscription (see Section 5)
3. User Accounts
3.1 Account Creation
To use certain features of the App, you must create an account by:
- Providing a valid email address
- Using Google Sign-In authentication
- Using Apple Sign-In authentication
3.2 Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach
- Providing accurate, current, and complete information
3.3 Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms
- Engage in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activities
- Use the App in a manner that could damage our services or reputation
- Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or exploit the App
You may delete your account at any time through the App settings or by contacting [email protected].
4. Free and Premium Services
4.1 Free Features
The App provides certain features at no cost, including:
- Limited recipe generations per month
- Basic recipe saving and management
- Access to dietary profile settings
Free service limits and features are subject to change at our discretion.
4.2 Premium Subscription
Premium features are available through paid subscription and include:
- Unlimited recipe generations
- Advanced AI models and higher-quality images
- Priority customer support
- Ad-free experience
- Exclusive features and early access to new functionality
5. Subscription Terms and In-App Purchases
5.1 Subscription Plans
We offer the following subscription options:
- Monthly Subscription: Billed monthly, auto-renews unless cancelled
- Annual Subscription: Billed annually, auto-renews unless cancelled (discounted rate)
Pricing is displayed in the App and may vary by region based on currency and local taxes.
5.2 Billing and Payment
- All payments are processed through the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
- Payment will be charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions through your device's account settings
5.3 Free Trials
We may offer free trial periods for new subscribers:
- Free trials are available once per user
- You must cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged
- Upon cancellation during the trial, you may lose access to premium features immediately or at the end of the trial period
- We reserve the right to determine your eligibility for free trials
5.4 Cancellation and Refunds
- Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
- No Partial Refunds: We do not provide refunds or credits for partial subscription periods
- Apple/Google Refund Policies: Refund requests must be made through Apple App Store or Google Play Store according to their refund policies

5.5 Price Changes
We reserve the right to modify subscription prices. Price changes will:
- Be communicated to you in advance (at least 30 days' notice)
- Not affect your current subscription period
- Take effect upon your next renewal
- Give you the option to cancel before the new price takes effect
6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
IMPORTANT HEALTH AND SAFETY DISCLAIMER:
Recipes and nutritional information provided by MealMatics are generated by artificial intelligence (OpenAI GPT models) and are for informational and entertainment purposes only.
6.1 No Medical or Dietary Advice
- MealMatics does NOT provide medical, nutritional, or dietary advice
- AI-generated recipes may contain errors, inaccuracies, or unsafe ingredient combinations
- Nutritional information is estimated and may not be accurate
- Always verify ingredients, especially if you have food allergies, intolerances, or medical conditions
- Consult a licensed healthcare professional, registered dietitian, or nutritionist before making dietary changes
6.2 User Responsibility
By using MealMatics, you acknowledge and agree that:
- You are solely responsible for verifying the safety and suitability of recipes
- You assume all risks associated with preparing and consuming AI-generated recipes
- You will not rely on the App for managing health conditions, allergies, or dietary restrictions
- You will use common sense and caution when following recipes
6.3 No Liability for Health Issues
We are NOT liable for any health issues, allergic reactions, food poisoning, injuries, or other consequences resulting from using, preparing, or consuming recipes generated by the App.
7. Intellectual Property Rights
7.1 Our Intellectual Property
MealMatics and all associated content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by:
- Copyright laws
- Trademark laws
- Other intellectual property rights
This includes but is not limited to: software code, design, graphics, user interface, logos, and branding.
7.2 User-Generated Content
When you use the App to generate and save recipes, you retain ownership of your personal data and preferences. However:
- AI-generated recipes are created by OpenAI's models based on your inputs
- You may use, modify, and share AI-generated recipes for personal, non-commercial purposes
- You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to store and display your saved recipes for the purpose of providing the service
7.3 Prohibited Uses
You may NOT:
- Reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works of the App without permission
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Remove or modify any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
- Use the App for commercial purposes without our written consent
- Scrape, data mine, or use automated tools to extract data from the App
- Resell or redistribute AI-generated recipes as your own service
8. User Conduct and Prohibited Activities
You agree NOT to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or to violate any laws
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Upload viruses, malware, or malicious code
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's servers or networks
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App
- Use the App to generate harmful, offensive, or illegal content
- Abuse the AI generation features (e.g., excessive requests to overload systems)
- Share your account credentials with others
9. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with third-party services, including:
- OpenAI: AI recipe and image generation
- Supabase: Database and authentication
- Google Sign-In: Authentication
- Apple Sign-In: Authentication
- Amplitude: Analytics
- Firebase: Performance monitoring
- Sentry: Error tracking
Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:
- Merchantability: That the App is suitable for commercial use
- Fitness for a Particular Purpose: That the App will meet your specific needs
- Non-Infringement: That the App does not violate third-party rights
- Accuracy: That AI-generated content is accurate or error-free
- Availability: That the App will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Security: That the App is completely secure from hackers or data breaches
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or use
- Personal injury or property damage
- Health issues or allergic reactions from AI-generated recipes
- Damages arising from third-party services (OpenAI, Supabase, etc.)
- Unauthorized access to your account or data
- Errors, bugs, or interruptions in service
In jurisdictions where limitation of liability is not allowed, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY (OR $100 USD IF GREATER).
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MealMatics, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of third parties
- Your violation of applicable laws
- Health issues or consequences from using AI-generated recipes
- Your User-Generated Content
13. Service Modifications and Termination
13.1 Modifications to the App
We reserve the right to:
- Modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App at any time
- Change features, functionality, or pricing
- Update these Terms as needed
We will provide reasonable notice for material changes when possible.
13.2 Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without notice, for:
- Violation of these Terms
- Fraudulent or illegal activity
- Excessive abuse of features
- Any reason at our sole discretion
Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease, and we may delete your account and data.
14. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
14.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
14.2 Dispute Resolution
For any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App:
- Informal Resolution: Contact us at [email protected] to attempt informal resolution
- Arbitration: If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association (AAA) rules
- Class Action Waiver: You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive the right to participate in class actions or class arbitrations
14.3 Exceptions to Arbitration
Either party may seek injunctive relief in court for:
- Intellectual property infringement
- Unauthorized access or data breaches
- Violations requiring immediate court intervention
15. Apple App Store and Google Play Store Requirements
15.1 Apple App Store (iOS Users)
If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store:
- These Terms are between you and MealMatics, not Apple
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support
- Apple is not responsible for the App or any claims related to it
- You must comply with Apple's Terms of Service and App Store guidelines
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them
15.2 Google Play Store (Android Users)
If you downloaded the App from Google Play Store:
- These Terms are between you and MealMatics, not Google
- Google has no obligation to provide maintenance or support
- Google is not responsible for the App or any claims related to it
- You must comply with Google's Terms of Service and Play Store policies
16. International Use
The App is controlled and operated from the United States. If you access the App from outside the U.S.:
- You do so at your own risk and are responsible for compliance with local laws
- Content may not be available or appropriate in your location
- We make no representations that the App complies with laws in your jurisdiction
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of law, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MealMatics regarding the use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
19. No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by us.
20. Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under them without our written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
21. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- We will notify you through the App or via email for material changes
- Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms
- If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the App and may delete your account
22. Force Majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:
- Natural disasters (earthquakes, floods, fires)
- War, terrorism, or civil unrest
- Government actions or regulations
- Internet or telecommunications failures
- Third-party service outages (OpenAI, Supabase, etc.)
- Pandemics or public health emergencies
23. Survival
The following provisions survive termination of these Terms:
- Intellectual Property Rights
- Disclaimer of Warranties
- Limitation of Liability
- Indemnification
- Dispute Resolution
- Any other provision that by its nature should survive
